Local newspaper Sydsvenskan today published an interview with Johan Edgren from the road office on Malmö Kommun. He presented the improvements in bicycle infrastructure they are working on right now.
Several new bike lanes will be opening during this year including like the third and last part of the bike lane along Nobelvägen that will join with the bike lane on Hornsgatan towards Kirseberg.
intersections on Johaneslustgatan, Stadiongatan by Mobilia and Trelleborgsvägen will get improved safety.
Several intersections have been equipped with racks that you can hang on to while waiting for green light. Some have also been equipped with sensors in order for lights to be able to change to green without bikers stopping to push a button.

Mountain Bike
Generally speaking, mountain bike is not ideal for the city. It is a little bit like taking a tractor to town. In Lund however the inner city roads are of cobblestone which makes it a good idea to ride a sturdy bike.

Bike Kitchen Premiere!
Last Thursday was the grand opening of Stapelbädden, the all activity house that is now home to Sweden's first Bike Kitchen. At the opening there was food, wine, live music stand up comedy acts and much more including the photo show with Cycle Chic Malmö Lund pictures. I have not had time to upload my photos and write until now but is sure was a great opening party.
Note that the Stapelbädden house has got a sloping roof. This is because it is located in the old Kockums shipyard. They used to build entire ships on this house and then just let them glide with the slope into the water.
One thing I really liked about the opening part was these cool roller-skate girls that kept riding around everywhere.
Bike Kitchen will be open Tuesdays and Thursdays 16.00-20.00 and Sundays 12.00-17.00
