Bike airbag company gets investment of 3 000 000 €

We have written before about the blow up bicycle helmet from Hövding on Malmö Lund Cycle Chic. Today DN reports that the innovation gets investments of 3 million € from Swedish state owned fund Industrifonden.

The helmet will be in Swedish shops by autumn.

Hövding - Den osynliga cykelhjälmen / Hövding - the invisible bike helmet

Efter många års utvecklingsarbete och hemlighetsmakeri är nu den "osynliga" cykelhjälmen här. Hövding är som en airbag för cyklisten. Den är konstruerad som en krage som exploderar upp n uppblåsbar cykelhjälm i två steg vid kollision.

Hjälmen kommer att kosta ca 3000 kronor och hurvida det är ett lockande pris och hurvida cyklister kommer att föredra en exploderande krage runt halsen framför traditionell hjälm återstår att se. Det är hur som hellst fråga om ett mästerverk då det gäller design och productutveckling.

After several years of development and secresy the "invisible" bike helmet is now released. Hövding is like an airbag for bikers. It is constructed like a collar that explodes up an inflatable helmet in two steps at collision.

The helmet will cost approximately 300 € If bikers find this attractive and if they prefer an exploding collar round there neck instead of a traditional helmet remains to be seen. It is however a masterpiece in design and product development.
